GPU-Accelerated Cellular Automaton Model for Grain Growth during Directional Solidification of Nickel-Based Superalloy

To accelerate the large-scale cellular automaton (CA) simulation for grain growth, a parallel CA model growth was developed. The implemented based on compute unified device architecture (CUDA) computing platform. verified by of single crystal and columnar-to-equiaxed transition (CET) an Al-7wt% Si specimen uniform undercooling with constant cooling rate. grid independence verified. plate-like casting nickel-based superalloy during directional solidification process simulated obtained results density at each section different heights were compared experimental data.
